Q. What activities are included?
A. The pet business insurance policy is valid anywhere in the UK and covers the following business activities:
Dog Walking, Dog Training, Pet Behaviourist, Pet minding, sitting and boarding, Pet Taxi and transporting (UK only), Grooming and Microchipping.
Included within the grooming activities are; hand scissoring, clipping, wash and blow drying, hand-stripping, de-shedding, nail cutting, ear plucking and cleaning, and anal gland expression.
Q. How many dogs can I walk?
A. A maximum of 6 dogs can be walked at any one time this includes exercise off the lead.
Q. Is there a minimum age that I can take out this policy?
A. To be covered by our Pet Business Insurance policy you must be at least 18 years of age.
Q. Do you need Employers’ Liability if you have volunteers?
A. Yes. If you employ any members of staff, regardless of they are paid or voluntary, Employers’ Liability is a legal requirement.
This covers you in the case of any employee suffers physical injury or death as a result of the employer’s negligence. If the member of staff sought compensation, the insurer would handle the cost of the claim.
Q. What does Public Liability cover me for?
A. Public Liability covers you for injury to anyone who is not a member of staff or for damage to their property, up to the limit you have selected.
This includes cover for damage to property that is hired or rented to you for the purpose of your business activities.
In the event of your business being blamed for an incident outlined above, your Public Liability will provide cover for the legal costs associated with defending you in court plus any damages that are deemed payable.
Q. What does close family extension cover?
A. If you employ any of the following members of your family, they too will be covered for Public Liability under your policy as standard. You do not need to take out Employers’ Liability to cover those family members either. If however, your business is a limited company and the family members are directors, the close family extension will not apply.
Family members included: Husband, wife, civil partner, father, mother, grandfather, grandmother, stepfather, stepmother, son, daughter, grandson, granddaughter, stepson, stepdaughter, brother, sister, half-brother or half-sister.
Q. Can I amend my policy at any time?
A. Yes, we appreciate that circumstances can change. It’s important that you notify us of any changes that may affect your insurance, please call us on us on 01494 887 909 to discuss your requirements.
Q. When do I get my insurance documents?
We will email your insurance details immediately after you purchase. Upon request, we can also issue a copy by post. There is a £3.50 fee for sending documents by post.
Q. How long will your insurance cover me for?
A. All of our public liability insurance policies are annual. If you require insurance for a shorter period, please contact us to discuss your requirements. To speak to one of our advisers call 01494 887 909.
Q. Is there a cooling-off period?
A. Yes, should you change your mind or wish to cancel your policy for whatever reason we offer a full refund within 14 days of purchase provided no claim has been made. Where cancellations are made after 14 days of the start date of the policy, the premium refund will be provided on a pro-rata basis and an administration fee will be charged.
