Yes. Public Liability (up to £10 million) covers claims from third parties for injury or property damage, including incidents at organised events such as council or charity microchipping clinics, provided you are operating within the law and scope of your business.

Your insurance does not replace your legal responsibilities. You must comply with UK microchipping regulations and licensing requirements (e.g., The Microchipping of Dogs Regulations 2015). Claims may not be valid if your business operates without required compliance.

Volunteers who are close family members may be included under the Close Family Extension within Public Liability. Other volunteers are not automatically included – if you regularly use non-family volunteers, you should add Employers’ Liability to ensure they are covered. All must be 14 years and over and If under the age of 18 then they must be accompanied by someone over the age of 18 that is insured within the business.
