What insurance do you need?
There are a three main aspects of cover that you should consider when running a book club.
Public Liability cover will protect your club should a member or third-party suffer an injury whilst as a result of your club’s activities. If you were blamed and subsequently sued, Public Liability cover ensures that defence costs and solicitors fees will be taken care of by your policy, as will any settlement, should you be found negligent.
Third-party property damage is also covered under this part of your policy.
If you employ staff, regardless of whether they are paid or voluntary, Employers’ Liability is a legal requirement. This covers you if a member of staff was injured or suffered property damage as a result of the club’s actions. As with Public Liability, if the the club is sued, defence costs and any settlement will be taken care of.
There may not be much in the way of equipment needed to run a book club – other than books – but if you’d like the equipment you use covered under your policy, we can protect them against damage, loss and theft.
