Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Will my policy cover XL Bullies?

A. We are no longer able to cover XL Bullies under our Pet Business insurance for our customers based in England and Wales. This is due to their addition to the Dangerous Dogs Act. Our customers based in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Channel Islands will not be affected by this change, unless their respective governments also implement a ban.

Q. Why dog groomers need insurance?

A.  As a dog groomer, you will need public liability insurance to protect you should a member of the public get accidently injured or their property is damaged by you or the animals in your care. You will also need Care, Custody and Control to protect you for claims stemming from injury, illness, or accidental death of the animals that your business cares for. Additional cover options that you might need include Equipment Cover, Employers’ Liability, Personal Accident and Professional Indemnity.

Q. What activities are included?

A. This dog grooming insurance policy is valid anywhere in the UK and covers the following business activities: Dog Walking, Dog Training, Pet Behaviourist, Pet minding, sitting and boarding, Pet Taxi and transporting (UK only), Grooming and Microchipping.

Q. What does close family extension cover?

A. If you employ any of the following members of your family, they too will be covered for Public Liability under your policy as standard. You do not need to take out Employers’ Liability to cover those family members either. If however, your business is a limited company and the family members are directors, the close family extension will not apply.
