Liability cover for chess clubs
Chess may not seem a particularly risky past-time, but having protection in place if something were to go wrong can save organisations from costly legal claims. Our chess club insurance includes Public Liability protection as standard and covers the cost of defending the club in court should they be sued for injury or damaged caused by their actions.
Our policy covers club members as well as the general public and can be tailored to suit your clubs needs.

What insurance do you need?
There are three main areas of insurance cover recommended for chess clubs and other hobby and past-time groups.
This protects your club should a club member or another member of the public suffer an injury or property damage and blame the club. This could range from suffering injury if a chair were to collapse, to a more complex incident. If your club is blamed and subsequently sued, your Public Liability cover would take care of the costs of defending the club in court, as well as any settlement fees should you be found negligent.
If you have members of staff, it is a legal requirement for you to take out Employers’ Liability. If they were to be injured as a result of the negligence of the club, they could choose to sue. With Employers’ Liability in place, like Public Liability, your clubs’ defence and settlement costs would be taken care of by your policy.
There’s little else needed to run a successful chess club than boards and pieces. However, if you would like to add equipment cover onto your policy, we can do that. This would provide protection against loss, damage and theft of your game pieces.
We offer multiple payment options at Protectivity, so paying for your insurance policy couldn’t be easier.
