Why do you need electricians' cover?
Electricians need insurance for several key reasons, mainly to protect themselves, their clients, and their businesses from the numerous risks and liabilities that come with construction projects.
Insurance not only ensures compliance with legal requirements but also shields your business, employees, and assets. Our policy can provide essential support to manage unexpected challenges effectively.
Here are some scenarios showing why insurance is necessary:
Protection from claims if a client suffers injury or property damage.
Despite precautions, accidents can occur, such as a fault with installation, which could cause or personal injury to a client or bystander.
Public liability insurance provides cover for such incidents, including legal expenses if a claim is made against you.
An employee or temporary worker suffers a workplace accident.
Electrical work brings a number of risks from the nature of the work and tools involved. If employees or temporary workers are involved in an accident in the workplace they could bring a claim against you for medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, and lost wages.
Employers’ liability is a legal obligation to protect you from these situations, with fines of £2500 per day for failing to comply.
Accidental damage caused to plant and tools you own or hire.
As an electrician, you could be rewiring a home and using your own power drill to complete the job. While working, you might accidentally drop the drill and damage it beyond repair.
Without Plant and Tools insurance, you’d have to pay for replacements out of pocket, impacting your profits. With the insurance in place, the costs of replacing the broken tools would be covered, ensuring you can carry on with your work without extra financial stress.
