Why do you need therapist cover?
Clients may be coming to you for help for various reasons, seeking your professional assistance. No doubt you want to offer them the treatment they require, using the benefit of your experience. However sometimes, even with the best of intentions, things go wrong and often beyond your control.
Specialist therapy insurance is the essential protection for your practice to allow you to offer your services securely, knowing you are covered should a claim be made against you. However experienced and qualified you might be, unexpected incidents can occur so it’s best to be prepared.
Therapist Insurance can cover the following situations that may arise allowing you to offer your services with confidence:
Accidental public injury.
During a therapy session if a client slips, falls and injures themselves, this could be deemed your responsibility and might result in a claim against you.
Having therapist public liability cover can protect you against these incidents avoiding the expense of a claim yourself.
Protection against allegations of negligence.
If offering therapy treatment is part of the service you provide, you should consider what happens if a client comes to harm following any instructions you make. You could be expected to pay damages to your client if a claim is brought against you.
Having professional indemnity insurance for therapists in your policy is the cover you need to ensure you are protected from these situations allowing you to focus on your clients’ treatment with confidence.
Avoid costly therapy equipment damage.
You may own specialist therapy equipment, which is essential to the service you offer day-to-day. This equipment could become damaged or get stolen requiring expensive repair or replacement costs, as well as inconvenience, that could impact on your services.
Therapy equipment cover would enable you to replace these items quickly and efficiently without bearing the full cost.
An accident at work prevents you earning.
You are also at risk from a workplace accident. Suppose you trip and fall during a therapy session, whether at a fixed base place of work of at a client’s home. The injury could mean you need to take some time off work, leading to loss of earnings.
You can avoid financial loss like this with personal accident cover, which can provide you with financial support until you can get back on your feet.
