Why dog groomers need insurance?

Whether you run a dog grooming salon, work in one or operate on a mobile basis, our Dog Grooming Insurance policy is perfectly suited to financially protect you against typical risks associated running a grooming business.

Typical cover options that you might need, include: Equipment Cover, Employers’ Liability, Personal Accident and Professional Indemnity and Legal Expenses. Here are some examples of why these are important:

A member of the public gets injured accidentally.

As a dog groomer, you will need public liability insurance to protect you should a member of the public get accidently injured or their property is damaged by you or the animals in your care. You will also need Care, Custody and Control to protect you for claims stemming from injury, illness, or accidental death of the animals that your business cares for.

Protect your equipment from costly losses.

Investing in quality tools is likely to be important to your business. Not only could equipment be expensive to replace but any losses could also impact the service you offer. If your grooming equipment becomes damaged, is lost or stolen, dog grooming equipment cover can help avoid these situations.

Accusations of negligence.

A good insurance policy also protects against accusations of negligence or professional misconduct. For example, if a dog develops a skin reaction because of the grooming products used, and the owner alleges negligence, having insurance in place would help with this.

Vet costs for animals in your care.

Dogs can be unpredictable, and you may accidentally cause an injury during a grooming session, cutting a paw or tail for example. Whilst no one wants harm to come to any animal it’s important to ensure you are covered to get them treatment if accidents happen.

An employee suffers a workplace accident.

It’s a legal requirement to have employer’s liability insurance if you hire any staff. It covers compensation claims from employees who suffer injuries or become seriously ill due to their job. In dog grooming, potential risks include injuries from managing animals or from harmful grooming products.

Legal and compensation expenses.

Investing in quality tools is likely to be important to your business. Not only could equipment be expensive to replace but any losses could also impact the service you offer. If your grooming equipment becomes damaged, is lost or stolen, dog grooming equipment cover can help avoid these situations.
