What is non-appearance event insurance?

Non-appearance insurance offers you and your client protection if a supplier, speaker, entertainer or other essential staff member causes the event itself to be postponed, cancelled or abandoned. Protectivity’s One-Off Event Insurance includes this cover, giving you the peace of mind that you are protected should a supplier let you down or weather conditions mean that they can’t get to the event.

This reassurance is important when planning an event. Pulling together a fantastic event is a big task, involving lots of elements that must fit together perfectly to make the event a success. A dedicated Event Organiser will spend weeks or even months planning every detail to perfection. But there is only so much that you can plan, there will unfortunately be some elements, such as the weather or venue closure that are beyond the control of even the most efficient event organiser.

As long as you select a reputable venue, many of these elements are likely to be out of your control. Also, out of your direct control might be any third-party suppliers that you need to employ to provide services such as food & beverage, audio visual and public speaking or entertainment services.

Catering Companies

When organising an event, you may well need to rely on several external suppliers to support you in its delivery. Whether you are organising a party for 50 guests or an event for 500, you may well need a caterer, a DJ, musicians or other performers, entertainers, public speakers or florists.

But what happens if one of these suppliers lets you down and is unable to attend? An email from the caterer the day before a gala dinner event to say that they can’t attend due to a booking error; or a phone call from the perfect band to say that they can’t perform at a 50th birthday party that you are planning due to illness is every event organisers worst nightmare!

Even with all the spreadsheets and top event planning tools and apps in place, there is little that you can do to either predict or to prevent these unforeseen incidents from occurring. However, you can take steps to protect yourself and your client from financial losses in the unfortunate situation that the event can no longer take place.

Protectivity’s One-Off Event Insurance policy covers the non-appearance of any person at the event which results in cancellation, abandonment or postponement of the event itself. This can include pre-booked outside caterers, speakers, entertainers and musicians, where no suitable replacement is available. The policy also covers the non-appearance of any essential staff due to adverse weather conditions.

Singer at a concert

So whether you have booked a public speaker or a children’s entertainer, a top quality caterer or a fish and chip van for your event; with Protectivity’s Event Insurance policy you can have peace of mind that you are protected if they can no longer provide their services at your event as agreed.
