What does reiki insurance cover?

Our reiki insurance is designed to protect qualified reiki practitioners and reiki businesses offering energy-based therapies to support emotional and physical wellbeing.

Policies can be arranged for self-employed reiki therapists, mobile practitioners, those renting a room within a wellness centre, and dedicated reiki studios or holistic clinic owners and tailored to your requirements.

Public Liability with professional treatment cover are included as standard, giving you reassurance that you’re protected if a claim arises following a session.

You can enhance your protection with optional cover for equipment, employers’ liability and personal accident protection. If you own or lease your own reiki studio or holistic space, you can also choose to insure your business premises, including contents, liability and business interruption cover.

Make sure you have the correct insurance for your therapy and be sure to check if any exclusions are relevant to what you have planned in policy documentation.

Why do Reiki practitioners need insurance?

Clients may come to you for reiki therapy for all sorts of reasons, looking for your professional expertise. You always aim to provide the best care possible, drawing on your extensive experience. But sometimes, despite your best intentions, things can go wrong and are out of your control.

That’s where specialist reiki insurance comes in. It lets you offer your services confidently, knowing you’re covered if a claim is made against you. There are many situations where reiki insurance can protect you. Here are a few examples:

Protection against allegations of negligence.

A client may allege that a session caused emotional distress, worsened symptoms, or that advice given during a consultation was inappropriate.

Professional Indemnity insurance protects you against claims of negligence and helps cover legal defence costs and compensation if required. Please note, this is not included on a Reiki salon policy.

When an accident occurs during a treatment

A client could trip over equipment, slip within your treatment space, or claim damage to personal belongings during a visit.

Public Liability insurance protects you against the financial consequences of accidental injury or property damage.

When reiki business equipment is stolen or damaged

You may own specialist Reiki equipment, which is essential to the service you offer day-to-day. This equipment could become damaged or get stolen requiring expensive repair or replacement costs, as well as inconvenience, that could impact on your services.

Reiki equipment cover would enable you to replace these items quickly and efficiently without bearing the full cost.

Protection if a workplace accident prevents you earning.

You are also at risk from a workplace accident. Suppose you slip and fall during a therapy session, whether at a fixed base place of work of at a client’s home. The injury could mean you need to take some time off work, leading to loss of earnings.

You can avoid financial loss like this with personal accident cover, which can provide you with financial support until you can get back on your feet.

When salons or spas require proof of insurance

If you rent a room within a wellness centre, spa or salon, you will usually need to provide evidence of Professional Treatment and  Public Liability cover.

Having appropriate insurance demonstrates professionalism and helps secure room rental agreements, partnerships and event opportunities.

Our experts explain why...

“Our reiki insurance is designed specifically for qualified reiki practitioners and reiki businesses, protecting you financially if a session results in a claim for injury or damage to a client’s property. Although reiki is a gentle, energy-based therapy, working in a professional setting carries its own responsibilities, making tailored cover essential.

We support self-employed reiki therapists, studio owners, contractors and mobile practitioners, whether you operate from your own therapy space, rent a room within a wellness centre, or provide treatments in clients’ homes.

Our policies reflect the realities of running a reiki practice. Alongside cover for liability claims arising from treatments or consultations, you can also protect your essential equipment and premises, helping you recover quickly from setbacks while safeguarding your income, reputation and business continuity.”
