Self-Employed Holistic Therapist
Salon Business
What does holistic therapist insurance cover?
Our holistic therapist insurance is designed to protect qualified professionals across the full spectrum of complementary and alternative therapies, including reiki, reflexology, aromatherapy, acupuncture, crystal healing, sound therapy, massage and more.
Policies can be tailored to suit self-employed holistic therapists, mobile practitioners, those renting a room within a wellness centre, and dedicated holistic studios or multi-therapy clinic owners.
Professional treatment liability cover is included, giving you reassurance that you’re protected if something unexpected happens following advice, consultation or treatment.
Additional options allow you to extend your protection further, with cover available for equipment, employers’ liability and personal accident protection. If you own or lease your own holistic therapy studio, you can also choose to insure your business premises, including liability cover as well as business premises and business interruption protection.
Make sure you have the correct insurance for your activities and be sure to check if any exclusions are relevant to what you have planned in policy documentation.

Why do you need holistic therapist liability insurance?
As a holistic therapist we understand the range of therapies you might be offering to your clients. These clients may come to you for a number of reasons seeking your holistic therapy expertise. However committed and qualified you are to offer the best service, situations can happen beyond your control and lead to costly claims.
Having specialist holistic therapists’ insurance helps to provide the protection you need in case any claims arise. Whilst holistic therapies are generally thought to be a low-risk occupation there are common occurrences that you should be prepared for. Here are some examples of why insurance is necessary:
When advice or treatment leads to a claim
A client may allege that guidance provided during a consultation worsened their condition, or that a therapy caused unexpected physical or emotional distress.
Professional Indemnity insurance protects you against claims of negligence and covers legal defence costs and compensation if required.
When a client is injured or property is damaged
A client could trip over equipment, react to oils used during treatment, or claim damage to personal belongings during a session.
Public Liability insurance protects you against the legal and financial consequences of accidental injury or property damage.
When holistic therapy equipment is stolen or damaged
Therapy tools, treatment couches, sound equipment or specialist materials are essential to your work and may be used across multiple locations.
Equipment cover helps you replace vital items quickly so you can continue trading without major disruption.
When a spa or salon requires proof of cover
If you rent space in a wellness centre, collaborate with yoga studios, attend retreats, or work within a shared clinic environment, you’ll usually be required to show evidence of Professional Indemnity and Public Liability insurance.
Having appropriate cover demonstrates professionalism and helps secure contracts and partnerships.
Our experts explain why...
“Our holistic therapist insurance is designed specifically for qualified holistic practitioners and complementary therapy businesses, protecting you financially if advice, consultation or treatment results in injury or damage to a client’s property. Holistic therapies often combine hands-on techniques, energy work and personalised wellbeing guidance, each carrying its own unique risks, so having cover tailored to your services is essential.
We support self-employed holistic therapists, studio owners, contractors and mobile practitioners, whether you operate from your own therapy space, rent a room within a wellness centre, or provide treatments in clients’ homes.
Our policies are built around the realities of running a holistic practice. In addition to covering liability claims arising from treatments or professional advice, they can also protect your essential equipment, helping you recover quickly if something goes wrong and ensuring your income, professional reputation and business continuity remain secure.”
